"Eww... I prefer my eggs cooked, thank you," Shayori laughed. "With bacon and orange juice and maybe coffee." She sighed. "Coffee would be good right now..."

"Coffee it is," Sihlus replied. "I'll have some sent up to the room." He flagged a serving wench as they headed for the stairs and ordered a pot. Reaching the room, he caught Shayori about the waist and lifted her high, giving her a whirl. "Listening to the music, were you? You'd been asleep for a good half hour," he laughed, lowering her to his waiting lips.

Shayori returned his kiss, then leaned into his chest, stifling a yawn. "It was very soothing music," she defended herself, snuggling into his warmth.

"It certainly was," Sihlus replied with a grin, then growled deep in his throat as they were interrupted by a soft knock. A quick scan revealed the serving wench outside the door. "Coffee's here," he said, releasing Shayori and opening the door. "I'll take it, thanks," he told the server, relieving her of her burden and closing the door virtually in her face.

Tray in one hand and girl in the other, he slowly but purposefully headed for the bedroom.

It was only once they had reached the relative privacy of the upper hallway that Soraya turned to Vlad and finally spoke words she had been trying to find since their arrival. Perhaps, even, since before that.

"Vlad, I... I wanted to thank you," she said, averting her eyes. "If you had not rescued me, I very much think that I would be dead by now," she admitted. The world she had experienced since her waking was cruel and harsh, and despite certain strange occurrences that had kept her from harm (to which she had yet to admit to anyone, including herself, really), she had no idea how much longer she would have survived had the vampire and his family not taken her under their wing.

Soraya looked up, mouth set in determined stubbornness. "I swear that I will find a way to repay you for all of this, even if I have little to my name. It may not be monetary, but I will make good on my debt. Somehow."

She took a deep breath, and added in a more sheepish manner, "And please, if I should ever become a burden, simply tell me. I will not take offense."

The whole thing had come out in a rush, and she had barely allowed the vampire a second to get a word in edgewise, though now she paused to look at him, and found herself caught up in the crystal blue of his eyes. Impulsively, she stood on the tip of her toes and kissed the corner of his mouth, not quite bold enough to go all-in but wanting more than a chaste kiss on the cheek.

Vlad smiled at the sweet, chaste kiss Soraya offered. "You owe no debt, and you are no burden," he told her gently. "Do you not understand yet how much I value your company?"

He stroked her cheek softly before leaning close and kissing her ever so gently upon her lips. "Each moment is a gift you grace me with. There is no debt, save that which I owe you for every moment you allow me to bask in your presence."

Soraya smiled at Vlad's words, not knowing how to answer such praise. His kiss, however, she answered without hesitation.

"Thank you," she finally said again, a simple, heartfelt and yet likely inadequate expression of gratitude for everything he and his had done for her.

She bit her lower lip in hesitation, then threw her arms around his neck, kissing him with more fervor and enthusiasm this time. The kiss was brief, still, when she pulled back, she was breathless. Allowing herself any more than that, she knew, would completely dissolve her resolve to be in her room alone that night. That was what was proper, right? She hardly wanted to tarnish the vampire's reputation, after all.

"Well," the redhead then said quickly, smiling impishly at Vlad, "Good night, then."

She turned and entered her room, glancing back at the vampire over her shoulder once before the door closed.
